Parkersburg Catholic Students Help with Vietnam Memorial

PARKERSBURG—Members of the Parkersburg Catholic High School football team gathered Sept. 2 to help honor men and women killed during the Vietnam war. Members of the team helped construct a traveling memorial wall which is a smaller replica of the Vietnam Wall in Washington. The wall was part of a memorial service held at Parkersburg City Park to honor soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam. Parkersburg Catholic student Daniel Collie said, “It was an honor being asked to represent our school in this way. There are a lot of Vietnam vets in the area, and I think the wall being present will mean a lot to the community. We were glad we could do our part in honoring them.” After the ceremonies, the Marine Corp League presented certificates of appreciation to the Parkersburg Catholic High School students for their help in setting up and taking down the wall.
